Having visited Schlafly Tap Room, back in July, I was surprised to learn that their second Bottleworks location was so close to the Seminary.
Schlafly was hoping to expand to having their own bottleworks as the demand for bottled beer grew throughout the nineties. In 2000 they began purchasing the equipment they would need, and found an old supermarket to buy and house their new bottleworks in 2001. They began demolition and construction in May of 2002, and opened their doors in April 2003, 70 years after prohibitions repeal.
