I have to admit that I had no idea what Brightside St. Louis was as we headed toward our next cake, but was met with a pleasant butterfly garden upon arrival.
Brightside was an initiative started in 1982, to help "clean up" the city. Volunteers were recruited to pick up trash and debris that littered the streets. Today, Brightside continues to be a non-for-profit organization that continues to provide a cleaner and greener St. Louis. Brightside continues to remove graffiti, encourage community gardens, and help educate through it demonstration garden located on site.
