Cake 205- Eckert's Belleville Country Store

Found December 6, 2014

Eckert's Orchards took root when Johann Eckert immigrated to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and began farming.  His son, Michael, followed in his farming footsteps and began farming in Fayetteville, IL. His son, Henry, followed suit and in 1890 planted fruit trees on Turkey Hill Farm in Belleville, IL, which would become the hub of Eckert's Farm.  Today this large orchard produces apples, peaches, strawberries, and blackberries, as well as other fresh fruits and vegetables. The country store began as a farm stand in 1910, and has grown into the large store it is today, complete with Country Restaurant, Country Store, Custard Stand, and Garden Center.  They also operate orchards in Millstadt and Grafton, IL.
