Cake 183- Missouri Botanical Garden

Found November 29, 2014

In 1819, 18 year old Henry Shaw discovered the land that would become the Missouri Botanical Garden while out on a horseback ride.  During the 1840's, Shaw had a country home built on the grounds, and began work to make the property around it into a public garden.  The Missouri Botanical Garden opened to the public in 1859.
