Cake 173- Shaw Nature Reserve

Found November 28, 2014

Shaw Nature Reserve sits on the Meramec River in a region known as the Ozark Borders.  Visitors to the reserves can explore prairie, woodland, and wetland habitats.  The Missouri Botanical Gardens purchased this land in 1925 as a way to keep a collection of plants safe from the smoke pollution found in the city.  Since then the reserve has evolved to so much more.  They offer educational programs for school children and adults, and offer miles of trails for relaxing and studying nature.
