Although closed for the season, Six Flags St. Louis still has their cake set out for all to see by the road gates. Six Flags St. Louis is located in the suburb of Eureka. When it opened it was known as Six Flags over Mid-America. The park opened in 1971, as the third park in the Six Flags chain, and the last to be built under the Six Flags name. It is the only Six Flags park that is completely owned and operated by the Six Flags company. When it opened, the six theme areas (coinciding with the six flags) were Spain, France, England, The United States, Illinois, and Missouri.
