Daniel Boone moved to Missouri when he was 65 years old, bringing with him his wife and several of his children. He acquired 850 acres of land near the historic home. The house on site is actually the house of his son Nathan, but Daniel spend more time at his son's home than on his own property. He died in this house on September 26, 1820.
