Cake 76- Manchester City Hall

My, oh my, was this intersection busy today!

According to the City's website, the city of Manchester is over 200 years old and is known for its high quality municipal services and superior schools.  The cake displayed several prominent city buildings and was quite elegant.  Below I've included a picture of the City Hall as well.

Cake 75- The Lodge at Des Peres

This was supposed to be cake 1 of 3 for the day, but turned into the only due to crazy traffic since there had been a semi-trailer fire on the interstate nearby.

The Lodge at Des Peres offers residents a community center that includes a fitness center and aquatic center, that includes both indoor and outdoor facilities.  It looked like an awesome place just from the outside where the cake was located.  

I loved the different layers and textures that seemed to be painted on the cake!

Cake 74- Central Institute for the Deaf

Central Institute for the Deaf began in 1916 after Dr. Max Goldstein dreamed that he could teach deaf children to talk. By the late 1920's there was a waiting list for the school and a second building was added. CID was a pioneer at the early intervention and education of deaf children.  In 2000 CID completed a new campus. Today Central Institute of the Deaf works with both children and adults who are deaf and hard of hearing.

Cake 73- St. Louis College of Pharmacy

This was take two at finding this cake since there is a lot of construction taking place around the College.

St. Louis College of Pharmacy is a private and independent nonsectarian professional university founded in 1864.  It is the oldest college of pharmacy west of the Mississippi.  The college admits students right after high school, and this year just began a seven year curriculum that will allow students to hold a Bachelor of Science degree after four years. It is consistently ranked as one of the best and most respected pharmacy schools in the nation.

Cake 72- Fountain Park/MLK Statue

Fountain Park is a neighborhood of St. Louis names for the oval shaped Fountain Park near its center. A stature of Martin Luther King Jr. is a focal point of Fountain Park and reminds the neighborhood that "His dream is our dream."

Cake 71- Left Bank Books

Found September 27, 2014

Left Bank Books opened its doors in 1969.  It is the oldest and largest independently owned book store in St. Louis.  They offer new and used books and hope to spark public conversation by the diverse selection of book they make available.  

Since we were out on a "double" cake search since we are losing time next weekend, I made sure to put this place on my list of places to come back and visit, since I am an avid book reader.

Cake 70-Chase Park Plaza

Chase Park Plaza is a combination of two buildings housing a hotel, condominium, cinema, and several restaurants and bars.  All of these locations were constructed between the 1920's and 1930's.
